On Monday 26th November 2018 we held our termly Informal Governors Meeting. This was devised several years ago to allow governors a chance to get together and share with each other items that have been discussed at our individual Committee Meetings (these are usually around 2 hours in duration) and cover items such as Finance and Staffing, Premises, Health & Safety and Policies. We also have reports from our designated Strand Leads (a Governor and a member of the Senior Leadership Team) who are responsible for different areas such as SEND, Child Protection & Safeguarding, PPG, Sports Premium, Values, Performance of Staff and Progress of Pupils in every area of the Curriculum. Having this meeting ensures that all Governors are fully aware of the day to day running of Astley Park School.
We choose our Governors carefully to ensure that we have a diverse group of individuals with each member bringing different attributes to the table. These range from having experience in business, finance, education, social care and parental representation; but most importantly a passion to ensure that your children receive the best possible education in a safe and happy environment.
We will meet again in a couple of weeks for our Formal Governing Body Meeting where we will follow the agenda devised by the Local Authority to ensure all schools in Lancashire follow the same patterns for setting of school term dates and inset days; changes in education, curriculum and evidence that we need to put on our website to ensure transparency in all that we do on your behalf.
I hope that this gives you a little insight of what the Governors at Astley Park do plus much, much more by supporting the pupils in an out of classroom activities, supporting the staff team and being an active part in fundraising events.
