It has been another busy start to the week in 7A this week and everything has been themed around the celebration of the week- Bonfire Night.

On Monday we met Mr Stokes who is going to be working with us in 7A for the rest of the school year. We are all looking forward to getting to know him better, and he is looking forward to working with us too. In the morning after nurture time and break time we tried out a new Bonfire Night themed Playdoh Gym featuring an eclectic mix of themed songs. We had lots of fun working out why we had chosen each song and Ms Carter loved singing and swaying along to her favourite Eternal Flame by The Bangles. Next, it was time for some Maths in My Thinking and Problem Solving. We started by testing our mental maths for our starter where we had to put 3 numbers in order from smallest to biggest. For the main part of our lesson we were completing some firework themed addition work and some counting fireworks too. It was brilliant to see everyone getting back into the swing of things and trying their best.

Monday afternoon it was time for a Me and My Body session and 7A’s turn on the bikes- and what an afternoon it was! We hadn’t been out very long before the heavens opened, and we got absolutely soaked! Never fear though, we still made the most of our bike session. Some of us chose to pay football in the cage too.

On Tuesday morning we took part in a My Communication session. We started to read our new class story- Sparks in the Sky that was about a family visiting a bonfire and firework display. We were really impressed with everyone’s recall of the story so far, and Jake even told us all about Guy Fawkes and why we celebrate Bonfire Night.

In the afternoon we had some more physical activity to take part in as it was our session on the climbing frame. It was fantastic to see everyone forming smaller groups and playing different games on the climbing frame and everyone getting on so well. Ms Carter and Mrs Fisher played a very fun game with Amelia that made us all laugh lots.

On Wednesday morning it was time for some more Computing in our My Thinking and Problem Solving lesson where we were revisiting the Scratch Jr app on our iPads. Mrs Fisher was very impressed with how much everyone could remember from our last lesson before half term about how the app works. Connor and Owen R were new to Scratch Jr but both worked really hard with Ms Carter and Mr Stokes to learn how to use the app. By the end of the session, everyone could make their Scratch Jr character move across the screen and say something to another character. Excellent work 7A!

I can’t wait to read about what you all get up to for the rest of the week on Mrs Crouch’s blog.
