As the Jewish faith start the Festival of Hanukkah this week, 10R have been using their internet searching skills to independently research 3 facts about the festival. Pupils were asked to put these facts into a poster and then present their poster to the class using mirror screening. Pupils really engaged in this activity and presented some interesting facts.

As pupils found a game played in the festival, we decided to have a go and make it. This is Dreidel. A spinning top like game which determines what sweets you may receive. Unfortunately we didn’t have sweets in class so we used counters.

We discussed the jelly donuts and potato pancakes often eaten throughout the eight days of celebration. Make sure you add these to your shopping list this weekend.

finally we looked at the candles lit each day. This is to celebrate the winning of the war, Jews contouring over evil.

Great work everyone!
