Hello all of 9G, both at home and school!

Can I just say you have all been amazing considering the changes we have had this week! Those in school are also learning a little differently than those of you at home and you have all embraced the challenge! Well done!

Learners in School

So this week the Learners in school have had to adapt to a new normal of being split up to make us safe. Everyone had coped with this very well and have been working hard!

Monday

On Monday we worked hard on our My Thinking and Problem Solving Skills. Firstly we had a video call with our friends at home doing some Numicon Bingo! Then, some of us were recognising amounts up to 5 in different arrangements, some of us were counting out objects to 5, and some of us were practicing our addition skills. Everyone stepped up the the challenge and use different apparatus to help, including Numicon, counters and bricks.

In the afternoon we created our own Frozen images based on this being our new film for the half term for our topic. The children used paint, and a straw to blow and make a pattern like Elsa's power. We really enjoyed this activity and making the paint move across the card, making a lovely pattern with the colours mixing. We also took part in some turn taking using our winter pairs game. This was fun, and we tried our best to follow the turn taking board.

Tuesday

On Tuesday, we were very lucky and got to watch some of Frozen for our My Communication session. We followed the story, and Miss Hendy would pause every so often so that we could comment on the film on who we saw, what they were doing and where they were. We were great at this and clearly knew the story very well! We also used colourful semantics to comment on still images of the film, talking about the actions of some of the characters and where they were.

In the afternoon, we made up our own Frozen workout. We did this to each character and came up with some great moves putting it all together! We really enjoyed this and worked up a bit of a sweat! We then worked on our fine motor skills, making a snowflake out of beads and pipe cleaners. This was hard sometimes, as the beads were bouncing around everywhere! But we did it and they look amazing!

Wednesday

On Wednesday, we worked on our individual sight reading and phonics work. We all tried hard to recognise the words and remembered parts of the stories which is great! We even practiced writing down the words to help us remember them more!

In the afternoon, we looked at different characters, and how best to sort them into their engine they were showing. We then took part in some regulation activities including a chair gym, star jumps, wall pushes and bubble relaxation. Well done everyone!

Thursday

On Thursday morning, we did a video call with each other, and took part in a Frozen quiz, answering questions such as who, what and where about the film. We then moved on to carry on our My Thinking and Problem Solving work from earlier in the week.

In the afternoon, we did some Frozen themed art activities, singing and dancing and then went on a video call with the learners at home and did chair gym again! We also took part in some of the six star challenges too!

Friday

On Friday morning we watched the star of the week assembly and then worked on our turn taking skills by playing our winter pairs game. We then were very lucky to have some golden time in the afternoon! We have worked so hard this week so deserved a break!

Rose

Rose has been working so hard from home this week. She has been completing her education city activities, practicing adding 1 more and subtracting one more, addition and subtraction using Numicon, writing Frozen words and taking part in the six star challenge! Rose wrote a letter to her cousins, and made her mum breakfast! Well done Rose!

Charlie

Charlie has also been very busy at home. Charlie started off the week by making kind choices by delivering spring bulbs to the local community. He has also worked very hard on education city, and making Shepherds pie with his mum! Charlie has also been practicing his sight reading and working through his number work! Well done Charlie! Charlie also came up with his own moved for the Frozen workout and sent me a video!

Ben

Ben has spent some time both at home and at school this week. He has been focusing on his letter formation, and spelling some words from our Frozen film. He has also been working on recognising amounts up to 5 on sight. Ben took part in Mrs Fisher's film playdough gym which he loved. Ben has played pairs with his mum and sister, getting right whose turn it is next! Great work Ben!

Francesca

Francesca has also tried super hard at home when she has not been in school. Francesca has worked on addition and subtraction using Numicon shapes, read some stories and wrote meaningful words to her out as well as her Frozen words. Francesca has also been writing some great sentences too! Francesca has played pairs with her brother, completed some jigsaws, and sequenced numbers up to 40! Wow!

It has been a strange week for all but we have all tried our best and I am thankful that we are all safe and well.

Next week is World Religion Week so keep a look out for some fun activities to do!
