It’s Friday again! Don’t these week’s go by quickly?

On Monday we were swimming again at Hindley pool. Some of us were swimming in the shallow end and having a go at lifting up our feet to kick, rather than walking through the water. Some of us managed to swim nearly a full length without holding onto the pool side and the rest of us were swimming lengths on our front and back. Excellent effort from everyone this week.

When we got back to school and had had our dinner, Group 1 went off to the café with Miss Greenwood and Miss Smith. The rest of us stayed in school to do some PSHE work. We were looking at reproduction and learning about sperm and egg and how they combine together to make a baby. We read a book together called “Where Willy Went” and we were all very sensible and mature, asking questions that we had really thought about as well as making relevant comments.

Unfortunately, the remaining 3 groups haven’t been able to go to the café this week as Mrs Fisher has been in reviews this week. We will make sure that we make up for this in the coming weeks.

Tuesday afternoon was cooking and we took it in turns to go up to the Food Tech room with Miss Greenwood and Mrs Fisher to make our choice of something on toast. Some of us made beans on toast, some of us spaghetti and some of us scrambled egg. We had to follow simple instructions and had to work as independently as possible. It was really good to see so many of us using our initiatives and having a go at something that we were a little bit nervous about. We all enjoyed tucking into our food that we had made.

On Wednesday in the morning, we learnt about the festival of Holi in preparation for our Holi celebrations in the afternoon. We learnt about why it is celebrated and how people can celebrate Holi. We all decorated paperchains to hang up to decorate the classroom, and we used our colourful handprints to decorate our Holi poster.

In the afternoon it was time for Miss Greenwood’s bootcamp. Last week we braved the rain to take part, this week it started to snow! Miss Greenwood led the class in some warmup exercises, running around the outside areas of school. We stopped on the yard and did some stretches, then moved onto the trim trail AKA assault course, cheering each other on and encouraging them to keep going. We finished in the cage area, playing follow the leader and travelling around the edge of the cage in different ways as shouted out by Miss Bibby who had set up the microphone and sound system ready for the Colour Run.

Then it was time for the Colour Run! We had so much fun wearing our sunglasses and throwing our powder paint at our friends and teachers. I think the photographs speak for themselves. We set off around the track, with Mrs Linde, Miss Wells, Mr Welsh and Mrs Crouch throwing paint at us along the way. We finished off the activity by dancing along to the music in the outdoor classroom whilst cheering on the Primary phase. Even the snow didn’t stop us, we had the best time!

On Thursday morning, Mrs Cobham led our English session where some of us were practicing independent work in the workstation, some of us were answering questions about menus and some of us were becoming more familiar with the names of the days of the week and months of the year and starting to type and write them. In the afternoon, Miss Anderton joined 10G to do some Science work. We were learning about floating and sinking and next week we are going to explore which objects will float and sink.

Finally, on Friday morning it was time to watch the movie version of Holes as Mrs Cobham had finished reading us the book for World Book Day last week. It was a hit and we even got to have hot chocolate and popcorn to accompany the film!

A massive congratulations to our Star of the Week- Katie for some fantastic signing and dealing with a difficult situation very maturely. Well done Katie!

Don’t forget we have got swimming again on Monday. Please check EfL to see what your child has been getting up to this week in more detail.

Enjoy your weekend!
