In 9A this week, we’ve been learning about Eid.

The children enjoyed our focused lesson about Eid and Islamic Culture.

First of all, we discussed what Eid is: a festival to celebrate the end of Ramadan. We recapped what Ramadan is and other important Islamic traditions and aspects of Islam, including the importance of the Qu’ran and how Muslims pray to Allah (peace be upon him).

We completed a carousel of activities, which included:

  • Looking at Miss Buck’s photos of Islamic cultural experiences from when she lived in Qatar and Kuwait, and also travelled to other Islamic countries. The children enjoyed looking at the photos of camels and henna tattoos in particular!
  • Trying different Eid foods. Some of the pupils tried them and others did smell tests.
  • Eid Book Creator activities. This involved tasks such as finding popular greetings during Eid.

The pupils also completed some colouring, card-marking and craft activities during Nurture time on Friday.

Well done 9A, you learnt lots about Eid this week and have been very accepting of other cultures ☺️
