7A have had a very busy half term. Have a look below to see what we have been up to..

This half term we have been out and about in the local community weekly and have enjoyed visiting different places in Chorley – we have been to Astley Park, Pets Corner, Chorley Town, Asda and Devonshire Road Park. While out in the community 7A have been practicing their safety skills, focusing closely on stranger danger and road safety. 7A have also been working on their understanding of money and exchange, following lists in Asda, paying and following budgets.

7A have also been swimming this half term and have all made wonderful progress from getting into the pool to some of us swimming full lengths of the pool - Amazing!

In our ‘Cooking’ lessons we have been learning to follow simple recipes; looking for key words to help us understand the given instruction. We have been developing and applying maths skills including counting, weighing and measuring. In our cooking lessons and activities, we have also been thinking about how to keep safe and the dangers and risks of the equipment we use.

We finished off our learning about ‘Space’ in our ‘The World About Me’ lessons and enjoyed Sharing our Learning joining in a quiz with some of our parents showing them all the facts we could recall!

In our learning about ‘Space’ we applied various skills to creating and designing our own rockets. In our ‘My Thinking and Problem Solving’ lessons, we practiced and applied skills to designing, creating, testing and evaluating our rockets! First, we designed them thinking about the importance of each feature of the rocket and thought carefully about the materials we could use to make each feature. Next, we applied our knowledge of shapes and practiced drawing, measuring and cutting shapes to the correct size to make the key features for our rockets. When we had finished making our rockets we tested them outside – some of them flew and some didn’t, but 7A had lots of ideas what they would change and do differently if they made a rocket again.

In addition to all the work we have done 7A enjoyed various Christmas activities helping us get into the festive spirit! 7A have written and posted letters to Santa, watched a Cinderella Pantomime, had a visit and present from Santa and enjoyed lots of Christmas parties and activities in class.

This half term, we have continued developing our relationships in 7A, increasing our awareness of mutual interests and building stronger friendships. 7A have had a brilliant end to the Autumn Term and are ready for more learning after a well-deserved break for Christmas.

Well Done 7A!
