In DT we have been designing logos over the last few weeks. We have spent time designing and planning designs on paper and then finalised them on our iPads. This week we printed our finished designs on to special paper and ironed them on to T-shirts. Everyone in class had a go at using the iron, supported by staff. We talked about safety around irons and how to keep ourselves safe when using them. We can’t wait to show you our T-shirts in sharing our learning next week.

In science we have continued looking at forces. This week we have been looking at magnetism. We had to make predictions on whether we thought items were magnetic or non magnetic. We had lots of fun experimenting with the magnets, testing various items. Some of them surprised us and were both magnetic and non magnetic due to the variety of materials. We found out that scissor handles were not magnetic as they were plastic, however the blades of the scissors were metal so they intact magnetic. We also found out that some coins are magnetic and some coins aren’t. The silver coins, such as a 20p and a 50p coins were not magnetic…but a 2p coin was.

We also looked at electricity. We had a go at experiments, such as bending water,  moving a can with electricity and making salt and pepper jump. We had so much fun doing this…even if we did end up with messy hair from balloon static.
