This week in Chestnut class, we have been exploring the theme Valentines. During our number attention autism, we watched carefully the confetti popper, bubbles and heart balloon during stage 1, labelling items ‘big’ and ‘small’. During stage 2, we watched Miss Seddon make a fizzy heart with red colouring and vinegar. We watched and listened to it fizz! For stage 3, we joined in with our friends and sang the skidamarink song, taking it in turns to hug the teddy bear. For some of us, stage 3 was adapted to suit our understanding better, and so we had a turn at splatting pink foam hearts. During stage 4, we each decorated our own valentines cards for our families by printing love hearts from paint and also practicing writing our own names.
When following our get busy timetables, we have been practicing putting numbers 1-5 in the correct order, adding, subtracting and then counting ‘how many now?’. During choose time and fine motor, there have also been lots of valentines themed activities such as exploring a messy pink potion, tissue paper sticking hearts, and decorating heart pictures with gem stickers. Mrs Whittle made a Valentines themed workstation where we filled in the missing numbers, writing them in the hearts and used our creativity skills to colour in and decorate our own heart pictures.
What an amazing productive and creative week! Well done Chestnut class.
