Hello again!

Here we are at the end of another week. We have just finished our 6th video call together- a food themed Kahoot! Quiz (to link with our Great British Bake Off theme). A big thank you to Mr Massey for letting me pinch his quiz. I hope you all enjoyed playing along, a big well done to our top 3 on the podium- Harrison (aka Harold) in 3rd place, Rose in 2nd place and Jake in 1st place! Brilliant work guys!

I hope you can join us next Friday at the slightly earlier time of 1pm for our next video call where we will be joined by an extra special top secret guest! I will send the invites out at the beginning of next week with the link to join the meeting.

I must start by wishing 3 wonderful girls a very Happy Birthday- Francesca was 13 on Tuesday, Nicola was 13 on Wednesday and Rose will be 13 on Monday! I hope you enjoyed our very tuneful rendition of Happy Birthday on our video call.

Thank you to everyone who told me what music their children are enjoying at the moment. The front leaders were songs from Frozen and Frozen 2 which is why I added a poll to the end of our Kahoot! Quiz to see which song from those films is their favourite. Let it Go was the overwhelming winner so I have made a Let it Go Playdoh Gym video that will be uploaded to the school YouTube channel on Monday. I hope you enjoy trying it at home.

Before we look at what everyone has been up to this week, a reminder that it is Parent’s Evening next week (w/b 29th June). Thank you to those who have already booked an appointment with me. If you haven’t yet sorted a convenient time to speak to me, please email me and we can arrange this. The only days I am unable to facilitate appointments are Wednesday and Thursday during the school day as I am in school this week. Your child’s new teacher for September will be in touch with you over the next week or so to arrange a Meet and Greet session with you too, so keep an eye out of that.

You will all be aware that this week has been Sports Week in and out of school and what a week it’s been! I’m sure you will agree that Mrs McDonnell and Mr Murphy have done a fabulous job of organising the activities across the week and we have LOVED seeing the photos and videos that you have shared- PARTICULARLY the ones that you have uploaded to Evidence for Learning! A massive thank you to all who have used the “upload” feature on their website this week, it is a big help for us.

Mrs McDonnell is hosting a special Sports Week assembly on Monday that will be shared on the school YouTube channel, so if your child has taken part in the Sports Week Six Star Challenge this week, keep an eye on the assembly to see which award they have won (Bronze, Silver or Gold). Me or Mrs Down will share their certificates with you via email.

Right, on to our weekly update…

Ben has been enjoying his weekly dance class that has continued online while he is at home. He’s also been working hard on Purple Mash and Education City. Mum shared some videos of Ben doing the Green Eggs and Ham dance and singing along to Green Eggs and Ham too. Ben is continuing to work hard on his Numicon work still too. Keep it up, Ben!

Charlie has had a very busy week and has thrown himself into the Sports Week Six Star Challenge. Mum has shared lots of videos and photos of him completing all six challenges at home. You look like you’ve had so much fun, Charlie! Charlie has also made a family of cress head eggs and is waiting patiently for the cress to grow so he can give them a haircut. He’s also made the most of the beautiful weather in the middle of the week and has been playing in the paddling pool. Great work, Charlie!

Daisy has been up to all kinds of fun things at home this week. She has been working on her phonics and enjoying reading ebooks on the Oxford Owl website. She’s also been using Colourful Semantics to build sentences about the pictures in her favourite books at home. Daisy has also been helping Mum with some cooking- helping to cut leeks, wash the courgettes and peeling parsnips. Can you guess what they were making? Delicious soup! Daisy helped with the blender too, super work! She’s also been baking and has made cakes that look like the green eggs from the Green Eggs and ham book. Mum and Daisy made their very own yellow Playdoh this week and Daisy has put this to good use by using it to take part in the Fast Food Rockers Playdoh Gym on the YouTube channel. Daisy has been very busy making wonderful puppets based on characters from the Green Eggs and Ham story and helped Mum to put on a performance in their homemade puppet theatre too. What super learning!

Finally, Daisy has also been working hard on completing the Sports Week Six Star Challenge. She’s been popping bubbles, throwing and catching, hitting the cricket ball and has enjoyed learning more about the Paralympians that have featured throughout the week. Mum says that Daisy found some of the activities to be a challenge but that she kept trying and trying which is brilliant! Well done, Daisy!

Francesca has had a brilliant week at home as it’s been her birthday! Mum sent us lots of photos of all her presents and said they had a special tea of McDonalds and cake- sounds like my kind of tea! She’s still been keeping going with lots of home learning and has been doing lots of writing, reading the Green Eggs and Ham story again, some Maths using the green eggs from the story and spelling the words from the story independently! Wow, super work Francesca!

Harrison joined us again on our video call this week. He did some brilliant teamwork with Dad on the Kahoot! Quiz too and they came 3rd. Well done team Harold! I am looking forward to seeing you in school on Wednesday.

Nicola and Skye have been in school again this week, supported by Mrs England and Miss Aindow. Nicola wasn’t in school on Wednesday because it was her birthday! Another teenager in 8G! She said she had a picnic at home with her family. Skye has been working on Purple Mash practicing her typing and has had a go at making rainbow pancakes (although she tells me they didn’t quite go to plan!). Nicola has also been playing on Purple Mash and has been finding rhyming words to link with the Green Eggs and Ham story. Both girls have been working hard on the Sports Week Six Star Challenge whilst in school, Nicola has completed all six challenges and Skye has completed five. Brilliant work both of you!

Rose has had a lovely week and I can only imagine how excited she must be for her birthday on Monday. She has completed two of the Sports Week Six Star Challenges at home- catching a balloon and popping bubbles. Alongside this, Rose has been busy building sentences using Colourful Semantics about her Down By the Cool of the Pool book and found a school reading book in her bag so has been reading that too. Rose also got a very special surprise from charity High Five- a teddy bears picnic to enjoy at home! Mum says Rose enjoyed a lovely picnic in the garden and her special treats from the basket were delicious. Rose has also been keeping active riding her bike and taking her dog out for a walk too. Great work, Rose! We hope you have a brilliant birthday on Monday.

Finally, it is time to announce our Star of the Week (which you will already know as we announced who it is on our video call)

.

.

.

It’s Charlie! I wish I could have record Charlie’s reaction on the video call when he found out he was Star of the Week this week. What a reaction! Well done Charlie, this is very well deserved this week. Charlie has worked super super hard on completing each challenge for the Sports Week Six Star Challenge. Mum says he found some of them tricky but he kept trying and trying, brilliant work!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to seeing you for parent’s evening next week. We’ve only got 3 more Fridays left which means only 3 more video calls and 3 more blogs!!

Keep safe everyone.

Mrs Fisher, Mrs Down, Mrs England and Miss Aindow
