Again, Monday started with Picture News. This week the focus was around the Guiness World Records, as it has been 70 since the first book was published. We researched some weird and wonderful records that have been set and also records we would have a go at ourselves if we could. These included eating the most biscuits in a minute, the highest drop on a half pipe and bungee jumping whilst dunking a biscuit in a cup of tea! In the afternoon we continued with Online Safety, looking at what issues might arise when we post things online and the positive & negative responses we might receive.
On Tuesday morning we wrote a review for a film that we didn't like. We found this hard, because if we don't want to watch something we usually turn it off - but we were able to write a few constructive comments about our least favourite films (even though we still thought they were pretty good!) In the afternoon we went swimming where we practised our push and glide, then we worked on our back stroke, using a float to support us.
Wednesday morning maths is our problem solving lesson and this week we focused on pattern making. We used a variety of triangles and thought about what repeating patterns we could make. Some of us even make pictures out of the triangles. We also took part in an unplanned fire drill, where we all behaved brilliantly! We then continued with our dictionary work in English. In the afternoon we continued with online safety. We created our own online profiles and then shared them with the class, judging them from 1-10 on how safe they would keep us online. We did a really good job and scored lots of 10s, showing that we understand what personal information we should and shouldn't share online! We then had a go at creating a profile that we would rate as a 1 - it was interesting to see the difference in the profiles we made!
Thankfully it was lovely and sunny on Thursday morning, as we were back at Chorley in Bloom. Everyone worked hard on the job they were given - some of us were planting lillies, some of us were planting bluebells, some of us were clearing areas and some of us were creating mulch from dying leaves. In the afternoon, some of us went shopping, whilst the rest of us completed some ASDAN work.
Friday morning saw us back in the food tech room, making breakfast butties to work towards our Enterprise. In the afternoon we had Golden Time and celebration assembly!
**Stars of the Week** this week are Grace & Gemma, for showing great teamwork when volunteering at Chorley in Bloom and doing a great write up afterwards! Well done girls!
