We’ve had a great first week back in school. On Monday, we practiced our maths to check what we had remembered from before Christmas. In the afternoon, we went through our holiday news from Christmas and shared all the fun and exciting things we did.

On Tuesday, we started some new maths by doing counting altogether, then working on maths games, whilst others looked at a hundred square, learning about one more and less. After that, some of us did some writing about a scene, whilst others went to the sensory room and sensory integration room to regulate. In the afternoon, we wrote about what we had done over the Christmas holidays and on Tuesday some of us started a unit on My Cooking, where we went to the food tech room to practice making toast following an in-task schedule.

On Wednesday, we did PE, starting our unit on gymnastics in the hall with rolling, hula hooping, jumping, and practicing our balance with wobble boards. In the afternoon, we started a new My Creativity unit that we really enjoyed, making collages with pictures of our faces.

On Thursday, a group of us went shopping at ASDA! We each had our own shopping list and collected the items on the list before going to a checkout and helping to load then bag the items. We practiced our road safety on the way to and from school. Those of us who stayed in school sang some songs about time to start our new maths unit and then sorted pictures of day and night into their categories. In the afternoon, we started our My Communication unit by listening to a sensory story all about bodies, then drawing around our friend and labelling parts of the body. We then had our own turn at drawing our own outlines and practicing our spelling and handwriting to label them.

On Friday, we did PSHE, learning all about growth and development, and completed a jigsaw, putting body parts together and then started a new maths unit all about time. We have enjoyed sorting pictures of Day and Night and discussing daytime and nighttime routines.

In the afternoon, we celebrated our week with some Golden Time and celebration Assembly. Everyone has had such a fantastic first week back and we are all so very proud of each and every one of them, but this week’s Star of the Week is Sean. Well done everyone and well done Sean.
