On Monday we started the day with maths. One group learnt about measuring in centimetres. We looked at different shapes and used a ruler to measure the length different shapes and objects. Whilst the rest of us recapped the perimeter and area of shapes. After this we did picture news. The question this week was “can famous people help others make good choice ?”. We discussed influencers, what they are and what they do and how they can “influence” others, we spoke about how they can do this in positive ways and negative ways. We spoke about mr Beast and how he helps others. We discussed some of the people who influence us, we said, family, friends, sports people, community helpers and teachers. We then spoke about how people get famous and why. Our task was to choose a famous person, research them, find out why they’re famous and find out what they do for different communities and charities.
We then shared the facts we researched. In the afternoon, we played some social games and had a good chat with each other.
On Tuesday we continued our maths work, one group carried on practicing their measuring skills and went around the school and measured different objects around the school, using metre rulers. Another group continued learning about area and how to find the area of a rectangles. After this we did English and continued researching our facts. In the afternoon we continued learning about habitats in science. After this we went in the hall for PE, we did a warm up and then we did an intermediate Zumba video.
On Wednesday morning, Julie from Keepmoat called us on zoom and set us a task/project to do. Our challenge is to design a housing development. Julie gave us lots of information and discussed the different roles that are needed and what the rules are. We began today by sitting on our groups and reading information and discussed ideas. In maths some of us looked at finding the area of compound shapes, another group recapped perimeter and the other group practiced measuring in metres. Then we did some reading and some of us read a practice reading test. In the afternoon we had our options, photos of our options can be found on our options blog.
On Thursday we had a gentleman called Rob came in from a theatre company to come and do a session with us. He introduced himself and we had to go round the circle and say our name someone said bing, then bong and then we had to say our name. Rob explained we are linking this to our ASDAN work and we spoke about the environment. We spoke about different means of transport and what is good for the environment. Rob then told us to get into groups and in our groups we had to act out different means of transport using our bodies.
This was lots of fun, we had a good laugh, we acted out a scooter, a bike, horse and carriage and a rowing boat! After this we did a quiz show! Rob put on a cool jacket and some glasses and was our quiz master and asked us different questions and we had to create our own “buzzer noise” one groups buzzer was “chicken nuggets” another one was acting out a gorilla and made the sound and the other buzzer was “ding”. The winners were the “Ding”. Then we had an acting exercise, it was all great fun! After this Gill from Chorley in bloom came into school and helped us doing some gardening round the school. In the afternoon, we went to Tesco to buy are supplies for breakfast butties. Once we’d done our shopping we went into Tesco cafe and had a brew or a cold drink.
On Friday morning we made our breakfast butties, we always do a great job at this, we all get assigned a role and we just crack on! In the afternoon we had well being time, where some of us watched a film and some of us played a game with our friends. After this it was celebration assembly. This week we had 2 stars of the week, Grace and Gemma for independent shopping at Tesco, well done!
