- Astley Park is a vibrant special school serving 162 pupils aged 4–16 with complex SEND. We pride ourselves on creating an inclusive, communication-rich environment where every pupil can thrive. We work closely with NHS Speech and Language Therapists (SaLT) to ensure pupils receive tailored communication support. We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly skilled HLTA to become our Communication & Interaction Lead. This role is pivotal in developing, coordinating, and delivering high-quality communication support across the school. You will work closely with teachers, TAs, and therapists to embed communication strategies and ensure every pupil has access to the support they need. Applicants who do not currently hold the HLTA qualification will be expected to undertake and successfully complete this within an agreed timeframe.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead whole-school communication approaches, including AAC, PECs, symbols, and Makaton.
- Deliver targeted interventions under SaLT guidance for pupils with communication needs.
- Act as the main liaison with NHS/private SaLT services, ensuring recommendations are embedded in daily practice.
- Provide coaching, modelling, and CPD to staff on communication strategies.
- Plan, lead and deliver training to staff, families and other settings & services
- Maintain communication resources, pupil passports, and progress records.

- Astley Park School is seeking a reliable, proactive and committed Site Supervisor to join our dedicated team. This is a key role in ensuring our school environment is safe, clean, secure and well-maintained, supporting the best possible experience for our pupils, staff and wider community.
About the Role
Working under the direction of the Headteacher and senior leaders, you will contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the school by undertaking a range of caretaking, cleaning, maintenance and security duties. The role is hands-on, varied and vital to the life of the school.
Your responsibilities will include:- Opening and/or securing the school premises and acting as a key holder
- Carrying out cleaning duties to a high standard
- Undertaking minor repairs and basic DIY tasks
- Monitoring site safety, cleanliness and maintenance needs
- Supporting health and safety procedures, including routine checks
- Preparing the school for events, lettings and out-of-hours activities
- Responding to emergency situations, including call-outs where required
- Supporting and allocating tasks to cleaning staff where appropriate
About You
We are looking for someone who: - Works well as part of a team and takes pride in their work
- Has a flexible and positive approach
- Is organised, dependable and able to use their initiative
- Has good communication and interpersonal skills
- Has an awareness of health and safety practices
- Is willing to undertake training and development
Experience in cleaning, caretaking, maintenance or security-related duties is desirable, but not essential. Practical DIY skills and experience using tools or equipment would be advantageous.
