On Thursday morning, 8G continued their work on Christianity for World Religion Week.

We read a sensory story all about Jesus walking on water.

Jesus had gone up to the mountains to pray alone, while his friends (the disciples) went on a boat and sailed out to sea.

It started to rain- everyone got sprayed with the water spray!

But then... a storm hit! We used the parachute to throw the teddies forwards, backwards, side to side and up and down, just like the disciples in the boat.

The water was SO choppy that one of the friends was sick- Mrs Fisher was "sick" into a bag, we passed it round and some of us were brave enough to take a peek into the bag!

The wind blew and the spray from the waves wet everyone through. We watched a video clip of a storm on the screen, it was very loud. We passed round the plasma ball so everyone could touch it and see the "lightning" inside the glass.

In the middle of the storm, the disciples saw what they thought was a ghost. They were very scared. But it wasn't a ghost, it was Jesus. And he was walking on top of the water!

Even the sea creatures under the water were confused and wondered how Jesus was doing it- we passed round spinach for everyone to try (pretending it was seaweed) and we put our hands into the water to feel the different sea creatures.

Now it was the pupil's turn- could they walk on water?

Lots of us wanted to try it out- we poured water into the Tuff tray and put some wellies on to test if we could walk on water just like Jesus.

Turns out we can't! We can walk IN and THROUGH the water, but not ON the water (although we had lots of fun trying). Jesus had performed a miracle.

Peter was scared so Jesus shouted to him to walk on water to him. Peter tried but he fell into the water. Jesus reached out and saved Peter.

Finally the storm stopped and everyone was safe again.

Right at the end of the story, we decided to have a go at using the instruments to make the noises of the storm. It was very very loud!!!!

We had lots of fun and are looking forward to our next themed week in school.
