As part of Personal, Social Development and Life Skills, 9R spent a lesson learning about First Aid and in particular how to place a casualty in the correct recovery position.

Mrs Lea showed the class her First Aid uniform that she wears when doing voluntary work outside of school and then she showed what types of things she keeps in her first aid bag such as bandages, ice packs and plasters. She talked about how certain items can be helpful in a first aid situation.

We all took turns learning how to put peers into a recovery position and learnt why it is important to do a head to toe examination to check for broken bones and things that could stick into us such a watches and rings.

We all also took turns wearing the foil blanket which is what is used to keep casualties warm and we pretended to ring the ambulance service for help.

This was a very helpful and informative lesson and we all did really well as First Aiders.

Great lesson 9R.
