We had a very special visitor in school on Wednesday.
It was a Staff Sergeant and he was a solider in the Army.
He joined the Army at 17 and has been there for 19 years.
He came to visit us as part of our Superheroes theme.
He spoke to everybody about what he did and his uniform, part of which was his belt and what was in it. There were lots of different pouches for things like ammunition, food, water and first aid equipment.
8A asked lots of interesting questions ranging from what’s it like in a tank? What time to you go to bed and wake up? He has driven tanks and been to Afghanistan twice and Iraq once and lots of others countries.
He was asked why he chose the army and he said it was because it gives you potential to excel and will bring out the best in you.
After every bodies amazing questions he had everybody stand up and he taught them how to stand to attention and at ease. His loud voice made some of us jump as we weren’t expecting it.
Staff Sergeant then spoke to everyone about Remembrance Day and what this meant to everyone including himself.
He encouraged everybody to attend a Remembrance Day service if they can.
8A throughly enjoyed his visit and showed great respect by doing some fantastic listening and waiting for their turn to ask questions.
A massive thank you to him for giving up his time to visit us and give us an insight into his job.
