World book day came to Astley park again this year. Our theme was once upon a time!

The children had the opportunity to come to school in dress up to celebrate their favourite stories and characters.

We had a really fun drama session run by Miss Molloy, playing charades and other games linked to world book day. All of the children took part and played really well, the communication was amazing.

We had a what’s in the box session run by Miss Beck which was super fun and really engaging. All of the children joined in and got really involved with the different items from the box.

We had a visit from little red riding hood and the big bad wolf, as well as grandma. All of the children loved the sensory story and took part where possible. Using the core boards to be able to choose what they liked and wanted to see during the story. Some of the children chose to have a try with the big googly eyes, being the wolf, grandmas hat, pouring grandma and little red riding hood a nice cup of tea (water). There were lots of exciting noises coming from everyone during the sensory story, what a very special treat!

We finished the day by having a fancy dress parade in the hall, where our very own Spider-Man won for the best costume in 7P. He even got to take home his very own certificate and new book!!

Happy world book day everyone!
