KS4 classes worked with our local PCSO today discussing how we can stay safe online. We watched videos and compared what we do in person to what we do online.

The aim of this workshop is to help pupils learn what to question when accessing the internet. To better prepare themselves when building online profiles and to learn about how to report our concerns.

As part of the program we learnt about digital tattoos and how these are what officers use to help solve crime problems. We discussed how police work proactively in monitoring the digital tattoos to crack down on terrorism in the UK. Pupils found this very interesting.

We were also challenged to put all devices away at least one hour before going to bed. Pupils were shocked to hear that their brains continue to process screen images after you have gone to sleep. By having an hour before going to bed from your last use of tablets, laptops, games and phones. You quality of sleep will improve, impacting learning and progress. Why don’t you challenge yourself?

Our next part of learning is to research what the CEOP report button does and present this to our peers in other classes. At the end of the program pupils will be presented with a certificate of achievement from the Constabulary.

A big thank you to our visitor today!
