As part of our study of religious events, we have been looking at the Islamic pillar of Sadaqah and examining their core value of kindness.

To do this we first of all talked about all the different acts of kindness and as a class we discussed how we can show kindness to each other. Some of the ideas included letting someone join in at playtime, making mum a cup of tea and sharing with a friend who hasn’t brought her lunch to school. All of the ideas were fantastic and all of the pupils showed a real empathy towards each other.
We watched a power point that showed how acts of kindness make other people happy and in turn they also do acts of kindness.

We then talked about how many family members we have living in our house and we counted out the correct amount of kindness bags before choosing chocolates and putting two into  each of the bags to take home to share with each member of the family...this was a great way to demonstrate the Islamic core value of kindness and also it taught us about sharing.

Lastly we watched a film about the Lion and the Mouse and we saw at the end that ,because the lion had shown kindness to the mouse by not killing him the mouse was one day able to save the lion by gnawing through the net in which he was captured.

This was a wonderful activity and we do hope that all the family members of 11G enjoy the kindness bags and the chocolates within them.

Stay safe. Ms Lea.
