On their return to school this week 11R received their leavers hoodies which they all look very smart in. A big thank you to 11G staff from all of us for arranging them.
This week there have been lots of activities going on. We have continued with our Environmental Awareness module looking at how we can change our habits especially when shopping to help the environment. We watched some of the BBC program ‘ Shop Well to Save the Planet’ which provoked some really interesting discussion and ideas from our pupils, and they then looked at items that they could swap in their everyday life to be more eco-friendly.

Next were Diwali celebrations where we made chocolate truffles and friendship bracelets to be given as gifts to friends and family.

A group of pupils who showed an interest, worked on a school art project where a large piece of art is being made to go on the wall inside school. Each pupil made an individual square sewing together pieces of material and buttons of their choice making it a unique piece. We will see if they can spot their own one in the finished piece ( we have taken a picture just in case we can’t remember!) The fantastic lady who came into school to work on the project was so impressed with the work our pupils did and because they all finished their pieces.  She also commented on their lovely manners which was so nice to hear.

At the end of the week a group of pupils enjoyed their last visit to Newman College. There they worked in two groups to make bonfire cupcakes which were cinnamon and ginger flavoured. Some pupils also looked at the application process whilst they were there.
