Today 9G learnt about St David’s Day. The class looked at a PowerPoint telling us it’s a special day for anyone who is Welsh as St David is the patron saint of Wales.

St David’s day is celebrated on the 1st March each year.

Many people pin a daffodil or a leek to their clothes and some, especially children, wear traditional Welsh costumes.

David was a real person and he was at the heart of the Welsh church in the 6th century. He came from a rich family in west Wales. Saint David’s mother was also a saint, Saint Non. Saint David became Archbishop of Wales.

After our discussion about Saint David, 9G participated in making their own Daffodils. They used yellow and orange paint and painted daffodils. Then 9G used a cupcake for the centre of the flower.

Happy Saint David’s Day everyone
