A very busy week in 7a !
In maths this week we have been exploring measurement. We used a ruler to measure our friends hands. We needed to think about where the ruler needs to be placed and from which number we start the measurement from.
We prompted the children to start at 0 at the bottom of the wrist and measure to the longest finger. The children recorded their findings on a chart with their friends name. When they had all the measurements the children transitioned onto their iPads to then input the information onto a bar chart. They had to think about what information needed to go where. They then discussed who had the biggest hand and the smallest hand by looking at the bar chart and the number measurements on their iPad.

In English speaking , the children have visited the outdoors to create their very own video to practice using persuasive language . They each worked with a partner to film each other’s video using phrases to persuade the community to put litter in the bin supporting their speech with reasons why they should do this.

In PE the children have really enjoyed some orienteering . The children did some super team work and tasks outdoors and finished off with a nice hot chocolate.

This week we have looked at the different features of animals in understanding the world . They have discussed the difference between animals with fur and animal without . They have made comparisons and spotted the odd one out by looking at similarities and differences.

Thursday brought us world book day and we celebrated in style. We kicked off the day with a school bake off. As the three little pigs was our class book, we used different ingredients to decorate a little piggy cupcake . Mixing the icing sugar , colouring it to get the pink just right and adding just the right features for the piggy nose, a big yummy marshmallow !
After the bake off was complete the children listened and engaged in a sensory story of the three little pigs, only this was a little different to the usual story. It was Mr wolfs version haha . The children loved to have a taste of the little pig with some ham and piggy nose sweets, along with some water spray from the huff and puff of Mrs wolfs sneeze. After the story Mr wolf and the piggy in the house of bricks entered the courts to have their say. The children listened and asked questions to both Mr wolf and little piggy. They then had to vote weather Mr wolf was telling the truth or little piggy . With a winging vote of 5 to 3, little piggy won and Mr wolf was sent to jail for wrongfully eating little piggy’s brothers .

In the afternoon the children used all different materials to build and create their own little house . Some used spaghetti and marshmallows , others used crackers and chocolate spread. Everyone had a really good try .

In music this week with Miss Troughton the children have enjoyed following some music patterns and rhythms using boomwackers. This is only their 2nd time using the boomwackers but the children did amazing and have certainly improved .

Have a lovely weekend .
