Another early start for the staff and pupils on Wednesday morning. The weather forecast said rain all day so we weren't holding out much hope for any sunshine.

Off we trotted for breakfast and filled our bodies ready for the day ahead.

We hopped into the minibus with Lou and drove into the woods to do some Bushcraft activities. Lou and Bea told us they wanted us to imagine that we had been in a plane that had crashed and that we all needed to work together to survive. We showed excellent teamwork skills by erecting a shelter that would keep us dry and help to keep us warm. We did that just in time as the heavens opened and it poured down! Next, we took it in turns to start a fire. Some of us found this very interesting. Once the fire was lit, it was time for the most important part of our survival adventure- toasting marshmallows! We all found ourselves a long stick and set about cooking our marshmallows on the end of it. This was definitely a thumbs up from everyone. Finally, we shared hot chocolates together around the campfire. As we were packing up, the sun came out and created the most beautiful rainbow inbetween the trees in the distance!

We headed back to Calvert Trust, walking back this time and retracing our steps from the night walk on Monday. Dinner was ready for us when we got back.

In the afternoon we jumped into the minibus again with Lou, this time to go down to the shores of Basselthwaite Lake. It was time for canoeing! We got kitted out in our lifejackets and made sure we were wearing our waterproofs. It was a picturesque day on the lake as we set sail. Unfortunately, the sunshine didn't last long and we got absolutely drenched! This only added to our fun (and didn't cause anyone to moan at all!!) and we continued with some team games in the middle of the lake. We headed back to shore, dripping wet and ready to dry off and warm up when we got back to Calvert Trust.

Tea was lasagne or beef stew with green beans and was followed by the most amazing chocolate brownies.

Our final activity for the night was swimming again, we were very lucky that we got to swim twice and this time all of 10G got into the pool. We got a little bit carried away with our swimming and didn't get back to our rooms til nearly 10pm! It was straight to bed for everyone ready for another action packed day in the morning.
