This week 8A learnt all about Harvest.
We looked at the meaning of the Harvest Festival. The festival teaches children about the origins of food, the importance of agriculture, and the values of sharing and gratitude. Harvest Festival is a time to give thanks for the year's crops and to collect donations of non-perishable food and other goods for those in need.
A big thank you to everyone who have sent in donations for Living Waters storehouse, our local food bank.
8A then designed their very own scarecrows. We had to think about how to make the structure, what clothes it wore including a hat. We all then worked on our writing and English skills to explain different features like facial expressions, materials, supporting structures and what the favourite part of our scarecrow was and why.
8A then made their scarecrow ready for Astley Parks very own scarecrow festival.
We had two teams making two scarecrows, both teams collected materials for their scarecrow, including clothes, paint, recycled paper and string.
8A set to work and worked exceptionally well, showing great teamwork and positivity throughout, two of our school values, to complete their given tasks. Each member of the team had a specific job to do. Once all parts of the scarecrow were made it was time to put them together…. Drumroll please….welcome ‘Scarecrow Barry Park’ and ‘Scarecrow Jacko-nator’.
They were both placed in the poly tunnel tunnel, along with scarecrows from the other classes, ready for everyone to have a walk through and see all the fantastic work that has gone into creating different scarecrows.
I think we all agree that everyone has put a lot of hard work in and all the scarecrows were fantastic.
8A hope you all have a fantastic weekend.
