This week in Maple class, we explored a sensory story all about the vets! We all sat and followed the story and each had a turn to role play looking after the poorly animals- just like a vet! We each had a core board with symbols of the animals and their illness to help us with our communication and engagement throughout the story. Everyone showed brilliant understanding of how we needed to help the animals feel better, exercising our pretend play skills as we- wiped the elephant’s nose, fixed the bird’s wing, stroked the giraffe’s neck and practised our fine motor skills to pluck the thorn from the lion’s paw.
We also worked on our turn taking skills, watching our friends have their turn and staying engaged whilst we waited for our turn! A lot of our learners were very excited and enthusiastic about the story and were eager to get involved!
Our explorers focused more on identifying the animals and labelling which part of the animal was hurt. Our adventurers furthered their exploring skills and practised labelling what equipment we would need to help each animal.
Everyone has displayed super work this week, we are very proud!
