This half term we have been learning about time and today we have used our knowledge of reading O’Clock and Half Past times to read a train timetable that was created by Miss Townson for our lesson.
We began the session by following the timetable, studying what time the train departed, arrived and the destination. We answered questions relating to the arrival and departure times and how long the journey would take.
We then took a track walk and contemplated which of the destinations we would choose. There was a train to Preston, Blackburn or Burnley to choose from and we thought what we might do once we were there. Some of us suggested they would go for a meal, whilst others said that they would go to the football stadium.
When we returned to class Miss Townson had set up a ticket office and arranged the chairs to create three trains. We role-played asking for our tickets and boarding the train, listening carefully for the departure times and destinations to ensure we boarded the correct train.
This was a fun way of us using our telling the time skills and understanding to apply to a real-world situation!
