Sports Week Fun – What a Week!

We’ve had an action-packed and exciting sports week, full of laughter, teamwork, and new experiences. Here’s a look at everything we got up to:

Monday – Cricket and Balloon Tennis

We started the week with a brilliant cricket workshop. We played a range of games to practise our ball skills before taking part in a match against another class. Everyone showed great effort and teamwork throughout.

In the afternoon, we had a go at balloon tennis. It was lots of fun, although quite challenging as the wind kept blowing the balloons away, meaning we spent plenty of time chasing after them.

Tuesday – Crazy Golf

On Tuesday afternoon, we were very lucky to have a crazy golf course visit our school. There were nine different holes to complete, each with a variety of obstacles such as bridges and tunnels. Everyone did an amazing job, and one learner even managed to score a hole in one.

Wednesday – Frisbee, Water Safety and Sports Day

On Wednesday morning, we took part in ultimate frisbee. We learned how to throw correctly, focusing on both distance and accuracy. There were lots of laughs as we practised our new skills.

We also took part in a water safety session, which was interesting, informative and fun. We learned how to stay safe around water and that it is okay to say no if we feel uncomfortable or pressured. We discussed the dangers of open water, including cold water shock, rip tides, animals and hidden hazards. We practised floating on our backs in a star position and were reminded to shout for help if needed.

In the afternoon, we had our Sports Day. It was wonderful to have some family members come along to watch, and we were lucky to enjoy some sunshine. We took part in a range of activities including football, bowling and the egg and spoon race. The relay race showed fantastic speed and determination. A highlight for everyone was throwing water balloons and wet sponges at Mr Welsh, who ended up completely soaked by the end of the day.

Thursday – Swimming

On Thursday, we had our usual swimming lesson. We continued to practise our water safety skills, including floating on our backs in a star shape. We also learned how to float in a “mushroom” position by hugging our knees, which helps to keep warm in the water.

Friday – Inflatable Obstacle Course

We finished the week with an exciting inflatable obstacle course. It was a fantastic and fun way to end a brilliant sports week.

What an enjoyable and memorable week it has been.
