Super fun day with the Grisedale group. We started our days activities by climbing up the mountain towards Goldscope mine. It was a steep climb with some of the walk being along a rocky path. We all did super well and had a well earned rest when we reached the mine.

Jane gave us torches and one by one we followed each other down the mine. It was low and narrow and we all had to bend down to ensure we didn't bang our heads. We looked for treasure in the mine and found some precious stones. We were so brave that we managed to turn our torches off and see just how dark it was.

Once we had completed the walk inside the mine we made our way back down the mountain. We stopped off by the stream and lots of us got very wet. Nicola and Charlie won the prize for being the wettest.

After dinner we ventured to Bassenthwaite Lake and got ready for our canoeing activity. We made sure we were safe by putting on lifejackets and listening to Jane who showed us how to paddle correctly. We split into two groups to access the canoe rafts and Daniel shared a canoe with the instructor.

We paddled a long way across the lake and played a number of games. It took us a while to learn the skills of paddling in unison but once we got the hang of it we were fantastic and glided through the water. Daniel was skilled at paddling his canoe and the instructor was very impressed.

Once back at the boat house we put the canoes away which involved us all working together. We then had a paddle in the water and Charlie and Nicola got the wettest again.

We had a super time both at the mine and canoeing.
