This week we have celebrated the Hindu festival of Holi - also known as The Festival of Colours. Together the class worked in groups to make their own colourful Holi pictures, using various painting methods. Some of the class also took part in a colour run outside, wearing white t-shirts and running around the track whilst staff threw coloured powered paint everywhere. It was incredibly messy but colourful and fun. Everyone who took part really enjoyed themselves.

In 11G we have been looking at pollution, most recently we have looked at car pollution. The class have previously looked around the school car park, making a tally chart of how many cars there were. This week they have transferred the data from the tally chart on to a bar chart - which was a new concept. They were able to follow instructions from Mr Murphy to enable them to complete their bar charts on their iPads. Absolutely fantastic work by all!

On Wednesday we visited McDonalds for a drink and whilst there went outside in small groups to count how many cars, bikes and lorries we saw driving past. In a small amount of time the learners collectively counted over 100 vehicles travelling in one direction! In class we have made pollution catching cards that have been stuck around school so that we can see how much pollution there is in the air.

As part of our Environmental Awareness studies we have again visited Chorley in Bloom this week. The class were able to use the skills they have previously learnt to help them plant some vegetable seeds.

On Thursday morning we visited the cafe at Asda for some breakfast before having a look around the shop. As part of the Parenting Awareness module of ASDAN we had a look for things that a baby might need. Everyone did really well, pointing out many….many different items that a baby would need.

Friday morning is always our favourite in 11G as we get to have bacon butties in class. We have been doing this for a while now and have raised lots of money for prom, as well as learning some invaluable independence skills.

It’s been another busy but fun week in 11G :-)
