Just before the Easter holidays we found out that we had been invited to the final of the Panathalon Xtend tournament that we attended back in January! 8 pupils from 11G, 10A and 9P travelled to Bolton Arena with Mrs Fisher, Mrs Banks and Miss Wilkins on the minibus on Wednesday morning. When we arrived we found out that we were representing Lancashire in the finals. The other teams that we were competing against were: Piper Hill (Manchester), Rumworth School (Bolton), New Bridge School (Oldham) and Sandfield Park (Merseyside). We were introduced to all of the staff working at the tournament and that the young leaders volunteering to support our learners were from Thornleigh School in Bolton.

We took part in 8 different activities:

Football Grid: working on passing the ball, stopping the ball, dribbling and shooting.

Boccia Blast: working on aim by throwing a ball at a selection of targets.

Precision Beanbag: throwing beanbags at specific areas or numbers on the floor.

Tenpin Topple: working on aim and bowling a ball to knock the pins over.

Tennis slalom: using a tennis racket to dribble a ball along the floor, in and around cones.

Curling Knockout: pushing the red discs to hit a selection of targets on the floor.

Harlem Hoops: working on scoring in the net, moving further away from the target as accuracy improved.

Table cricket: hitting a small ball on a table tennis table, aiming to hit targets on the sides.

We finished the tournament with some relay races.

We all had a brilliant time and were lucky enough to come 5th in the final! Everyone should have come home with a wonderful medal. A massive congratulations to the winners: New Bridge School!
