This week in school we are celebrating Friendship week. 8A started the week off with Odd Sock day.

We then had a look at the BBC bite size live lesson and completed the missions they set, including cracking the code and finding the missing word which was kindness, one of our school values!

We did lots of different activities working on what makes a good friend and discussed different scenarios to see how we could help our friends if they were upset or sad.

On Tuesday 8A talked about Remembrance Day and made their own poppy wreath in Art, using handprints. We also watched some of the Remembrance service and observed the 2 minute silence. We then worked on our English by writing some facts about Remembrance Day that we had researched on our IPads.

For our PSHE lesson this week we met Meditation Matt. We made our own meditation cards saying what would keep us calm and regulated instead of being an Energy Harvey. We worked on difficult techniques to help us calm, including yoga, glitter bottles and belly breathing. Some of 8A used the cuddly toy to show how deep they were breathing as they could see it move up and down.

In Thrive we split into 3 teams to do the spaghetti tower challenge. We had to build the tallest tower using only spaghetti and marshmallows given to us. This showed us how to work together as a team. There were some fantastic constructions and some excellent communication. We then discussed afterwards what we could do better as a team to make the challenge run a bit more smoothly.

For Children in Need this year the theme is ‘Challenge yourself to 25’

In 8A we attempted 25 different activities per day.

On Monday we used our communication skills to ask people to help us make a human chain of 25 people. It was a little tricky but we managed it.

We also gave 25 compliments to different people around school, helping us with our communication skills and made 25 robots out of Lego. This was our favourite challenge.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend.
