Day 2 at Bendrigg.

You will be pleased to know, the learners had a good first nights sleep. Our day started roughly at 7.30 am when they woke and got ready for breakfast. Some of the learners started off their morning by making themselves a brew with a slice of toast or a bowl of cereal before our main breakfast where we were served hash browns, bacon and tomatoes.

Our first activity was the climbing wall. We had to do good listening to Jenny about keeping ourselves safe and to follow safety instructions. Then after a few warm up exercises it was time to put on our harnesses. We followed Jenny’s instructions on how to put our harnesses on and we had to work as a team and checked each other’s equipment. Then it was time to climb the wall! Some of 10A were a little nervous at the start (including staff), but we all had a go and encouraged each other. All of 10A climbed the wall all the way to the top. Well done team 10A!

After a short break, we went back and most of us faced our fears and abseiled down a very high wall. Again, WOW, the learners that did it smashed it !

Then it was lunch time. Today we had soup and a choice of sandwiches. Then it was time for our next activity, the zip wire. Again after a safety brief from Jenny, we had to wear our harnesses and helmets. Again, 10A have blown us all away. They all did good listening and had lots of fun and facing their fears.

Next up it was archery. We learned how to keep ourselves and each other safe when we were using the bow and arrows. Jenny checked we had been doing more good listening, by asking us all to repeat the safety instructions. Well done 10A on some amazing aiming to the target. We even had a couple of bullseyes.

Then it was some much needed time to relax before our tea of sausage, mash, peas and gravy, followed by sticky toffee pudding.

Our final Tuesday actives were a nice chilled out time in the sensory room before making our very own pizza which we will be eating tomorrow.
