Children Mental Health Week 2026
This week in Astley Park School, 10A has focused on Children’s Mental Health. Every morning the learners had access in morning group to mental health activities such as word searches, mindfulness colouring and writing or drawing their feelings.
In class, one of our whole class activity was to think of our happy place. The learners listed their happy smells, taste, how they feel, what they like to hear and see. The learners happy places were home, caravan, school, bedrooms and the pub! After they had filled in their work sheet, the learners coloured the worksheet in bright colours.
Safety Internet Day
After this, we looked at being safe on the internet. Miss Hendy put on a cartoon PowerPoint that showed different animals being on the internet. It explained different scenarios of Internet use and how to keep safe by telling a trusted adult if they feel something isn’t right when on the internet. After this, Miss Hendy put the class into three groups. Each group created a Puppet Pals video on three different scenarios of keeping safe on the internet. The three scenarios were “Too much screen time”, “someone pretending to be someone else” and “Cyber bullying”. What great videos and voice overs everyone did.
Police visiting Astley Park School.
Finally, on Wednesday morning we had a visit from the police. They chatted to a few classes in the hall all about what things the police do to keep us safe.
It was so good to see and hear how our learners engaged and asked some great question. It was a great learning curve for our learners on what happens to others that commit crimes like stealing, cyber bullying and domestic abuse naming a few.
What a great half term it’s been here in 10A and we have more planned fun activities in the next school term.
Have a great half term from all of 10A team.
