Thank you for being a friend in 8A

This week has been “Friendship week” at Astley Park.

We have been looking out for our learners being kind towards other.

We have seen learners looking after their friends whilst out walking to and from Asda in the high winds. We have also seen learners helping others when tidying up. We have also heard lots of thank yous too.

The learners listened to a lovely story about “Starry Eyed Stan”. He was a singing star fish. He was very selfish at the start of the story and used to brag about his skills. There was also a nasty crab who used to make bad choices to all the other sea creatures. But at the end of the story, he worked together with the other sea creatures  to defeat the crab and they all looked out for each other. Starry eyed Stan also apologised to his friends and helped his friends to learn to sing too.

The learners then had to ask different peers on qualities they think they had for being a good friend and they wrote them down on a petal of a flower.

It was lovely hearing all the kind compliments they gave each other.

We heard being a good listener, being kind, honest, trustworthy and being a great person to talk to. It’s great to see everyone using our school values.

Moving a little bit more into complimenting each other, Miss Robertson asked the class to write their names on a white board. These white boards then got moved around the class and the learners had to either write a word or a very short sentence about that peer. Again, lovely qualities of being a good friend were written down and the pupils then shared with the class.

8A are truly a great friendship group.

Happy weekend from 8A team.
